Incubating lists: Ticklers and Someday/Maybe
Sometimes there are things that enter your world, that might represent something you need to do in the future. Notice that they are not actions to be performed in the future. They are not clearly defined and, when the moment arrives, you might decide not to act on them.
For example, some band you like is playing in your city in 3 months. You might attend but not really sure, and the date is too distant in the future to move on it now. You don't want these kind of items around in your system of actions but you need to track them as the might be valuable in the future. This is what GTD incubating lists are for.
GTD recommends 2 incubating lists fully supported by Zendone:
- Ticklers: You don't want to decide on them until a given date in the future arrives.
- Someday/Maybe: You want to decide on them in the future (without setting any date for it)
You can create someday items and ticklers in 2 places:
- When processing your inbox
- In the corresponding list of Review and Organize section
Your Someday/Maybe list contains a list of items that might represent something to do for you in the future, but it is not clear now.
You can view and manage this list in the Review and Organize section.
When Evernote integration is enabled, someday items will be synced bidirectionally with Evernote notes in a notebook named
Your Ticklers list contains a list of items that might represent something you have to do, but that you don't want to decide on until a given date arrives in the future. When that date arrives, those items will be moved to your inbox, to be processed. So ticklers are effectively a way to delay processing items until a given moment in the future.
When Evernote integration is enabled, ticklers sync as notes in your default notebook, and a reminder capturing the processing date will be created in Evernote for them.
